CANDLE LIGHTING
 
Years ago when my brother Jack died at 40 years of age with 4 children and a pregnant wife, I remember my Mom saying ‘there is no greater pain than the pain of losing a child’. Many folks in St. James have lost children and grandchildren, and a Committee has been formed to provide the community with a special service to celebrate these children’s lives. There will be a candlelight service at St. James Chapel on Sunday, December 14th. Please contact a Committee Member for details. The Committee consists of Nancy Schulte, Jackie Blackburn, Nancy Robinson, Sherry Rochford, Sue Mills, and Mary Jean Rose.
 
 
A WAVE
 
From one of our readers, “Bill, maybe you could quietly remind golf players to show a little friendliness to workers on the courses – at least wave or say Hi. This applies on our roads also – too many of us ride by and don’t even acknowledge their presence!”

Frost Delays
 
Due to the continued probability of having temperatures below freezing for the next three nights, The Clubs are taking the precaution to delay the first tee times until 10:00 am, Wednesday, November 19th through Friday, November 21st. Please continue to check with the Golf Shop at the course where your tee time was made for your actual starting time each day, as some tee times have been blocked to allow later times to move up, making the delay less than two hours for some groups.
 
In addition, with the prolonged run of cold temperatures, the water fountains on all of the courses will be shut off until Friday. This will prevent some susceptible parts from freezing and bursting. Thank you for your patience.
The Reserve Club Holiday Raffle

Thanksgiving Fitness Announcement
 
On Saturday, November 23rd there will be no Turbo 20/20/20 class, and water aerobics will only be held at 9:00 am. The Members Athletic Club and The Players Club Sports Center will be open from 6:00 am – 1:00 pm on Thanksgiving Day. No classes will be held on Thanksgiving day. On Friday, November 28th there will be no Turbo 20/20/20, Get On The Ball, or Men's Core Conditioning classes, and water aerobics will only be held at 9:00 am.

The Clubs at St. James Plantation present a holiday shopping extravaganza, with huge savings on golf merchandise from all 4 Clubs! All Golf Shop credit book and gift certificates will be accepted. A variety of golf vendors will be on hand with new products, and special orders will be accepted! Tennis Shop merchandise will also be on sale at this event. Free gift wrapping will be available, and complimentary hors d’oeuvres, beer, and wine will also be offered. Sale prices will also be honored December 7th – 8th. Bingo & Family Style Buffet
Sunday, December 7th
The Members Club Ballroom ~ 6:00 pm
 
A family style buffet begins at 6:00 pm and will consist of a wide variety of home-style foods, and an ice cream sundae bar for dessert. Bingo play will begin at 7:00 pm, with lots of fun and prizes to be had by all! Cost for the buffet event is $12 ++ per person, and bingo cards are $2 each. Holiday Social

Member/Associate Golf Outing

Mark your calendars for the upcoming Member/Associate 9-hole golf scramble! The golf professional staff will make the team pairings for this event. A social will be held at The Members Club following the golf outing. Golf Course Walking Initiative Trial
 
From now until the end of December, The Clubs will be conducting a trial walking initiative on Saturdays or Sundays, at anytime during the day, which will allow registered golfers who have opted for the Annual Cart Plan to walk and carry their bags, or use a pull-cart on the courses while playing. Please call any of The Clubs Golf Shops for program specifics.
 
Swing With Your Sweetie at The Players Club

Swing With Your Sweetie will be held at The Players Club. Tee times will be blocked from 10:30 am – 12:00 pm. The format will be 'Couples Stableford'. To sign up, please call The Players Club Golf Shop, (910) 457-0049, x1. This event will be held every other Sunday, including November 30th and December 14th.

Thanksgiving at The Clubs

Thanksgiving Day Shotgun
 
On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 27, all four clubs will have an 8:00 am shotgun-start. If you wish to play on Thanksgiving, please call the Golf Shop of the course you wish to play for a starting hole assignment.

Each Club will accommodate 72 players. In the event of a frost delay, once play is permitted, players will play as many holes as possible until 12:00 pm.
 
Traditional Thanksgiving Buffet
The Members Club Ballroom ~ 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
 
A traditional Thanksgiving Buffet will be served in The Members Club Ballroom, with reservations taken from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Cost of the buffet is $33 per person, $12 for children ages 5 – 12, and complimentary for children under 5. All pricing is inclusive of tax, gratuity, coffee, and tea. Tennis
The Tennis Shop will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, but tennis courts will be open for play. The Tennis Shop will be open Friday after Thanksgiving from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm.
