The tennis programs and facilities at St. James Plantation provide tennis players of all ages and levels the opportunity to participate in an active, fun, recreational sports activity.
Facilities
The St. James Plantation Tennis Complex and Pro Shop is located adjacent to The Founders Club. The street address is 3021 Beaver Creek Drive and the phone number is 910-253-3008, option 6. Director of Tennis, Brian Preston, may be reached by phone, or by email at: bpreston@troongolf.com
The Tennis Pro Shop is open from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday through Saturday, and from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm on Sunday. A complete line of tennis clothing, equipment and accessories are available. Racquet stringing and a ball machine also are available. The Director of Tennis offers individual and group tennis instruction on a regularly scheduled basis. The Clubs have recently purchased a new Playmate Volley tennis ball machine for The Founders Club Tennis Complex. The ball machine will be available during tennis shop hours. To reserve the machine, please contact the Tennis Pro Shop.
The tennis facilities may be used by St. James residents who have a Tennis or Golf Membership in The Clubs at St. James Plantation and by their guests. There is no charge for court usage by members or for guests visiting from more than 60 miles away. There is a small fee for guests from the local area. To establish a Tennis or Golf Membership in The Clubs at St. James Plantation, contact the Membership Director, Becky Jones, at 910-253-9500 x2. In addition to use of the tennis facilities, Tennis and Golf Membership in The Clubs at St. James Plantation also include access to fitness, swimming and social facilities.
Tennis Courts
The Clubs at St. James Plantation currently have 10 Har Tru (clay) tennis courts with underground irrigation and all are lighted for night play. Six of the courts are located at The Founders Club. Two courts are located at The Members Athletic Club and two more are located at The Players Club Sports Center.
Reservations
Court reservations are strongly recommended. Reservations may be made up to two weeks in advance by calling the Tennis Pro Shop at 910-253-3008, option 6. You may reserve courts for up to two hours per session.
St. James Tennis Association (SJTA)
The SJTA is a resident organization established for the benefit of all of the tennis players at St. James Plantation… whether you are a beginner and want to play simply for the pleasure of purely social tennis… or whether you are a more advanced player seeking a competitive challenge. No matter what the level of your game or what your playing preferences are, the goal of the SJTA is to promote tennis programs for all and to represent the interests of members with our Director of Tennis, Troon Management, and St. James Development to maintain and improve the tennis facilities and programs as our community and our tennis membership continue to grow.
SJTA Programs
The SJTA sponsors many events throughout the year, including Club Championships in singles, doubles and mixed doubles, as well as weekly round robins, and monthly mixed doubles social events. The SJTA encourages all levels of play, including teams that compete in the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and Brunswick County Tennis Association (BCTA) leagues.

- Women's Doubles - Wed. 3:00 -5:00 pm, Thurs. 9:00 - 11:00 am*
- Men's Doubles - Tues. and Fri. 9:00 - 11:00 am*
- Women's Doubles Round Robin - 4th Sunday each month.
- Men's Doubles Round Robin - 2nd Sunday each month.
- Men's Singles Round Robin - Floating
*Starting time changes to 8:00 am with Daylight Savings Time and reverses in the fall.
SJTA Membership
SJTA Membership is required to participate in SJTA events. The annual membership fee for the SJTA is $15 for an individual and $25 for a family. Memberships are on a calendar-year basis. Membership applications are available at the Tennis Pro Shop.
